    Family Relief Nursery is a 501c3 nonprofit operating in South Lane and North Douglas Counties. Family Relief Nursery seeks to keep children safe through support and early intervention strengthening families so all children thrive. Services include therapeutic classrooms emphasizing social-emotional development for children, home visits, parent education and other services.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Plan, organize, and facilitate a therapeutic classroom for up to 11 young children (6 weeks – 5 years) as part of a teaching team
    • Case Management of 8-11 families including home visits and phone contact.
    • Regular, strength-based home visits with Spanish and English speaking families
    • Referral assistance and crises intervention
    • Parent coaching, goal setting and facilitating positive parent-child interaction
    • Culturally competent relationship/rapport building with parents
    • Maintain records including daily observations, home visit records, family and child assessments
    • Serve USDA meals following guidelines and record keeping
    • Scheduled bus riding and driving (no CDL required) in various weather conditions
    • Support other nursery activities - at times outside of regular hours

    Minimum Requirements
    • Prefer bilingual English/Spanish including reading, writing and speaking effectively in both languages
    • BA/BS in Early Childhood Education or a related field with infant/toddler or preschool teaching experience. Bachelors in progress, AA/AS or comparable Oregon Registry level considered.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Experience in social service setting, knowledge of community resources
    • Basic knowledge of child abuse and neglect
    • Ability to recognize and record significant individual and group behaviors
    • Excellent computer skills including: email, Google Docs/Sheets and web-based databases
    • Effective communication skills including: rapport building, report writing, conflict de-escalation and resolution
    • Ability to establish and maintain personal /programmatic boundaries and confidentiality while providing supportive services
    • Good judgment and maturity to function in crises
    • Cultural competence
    • Ability to relate sensitively and non-judgmentally with at-risk children and families
    • Work independently and as a team member
    • Ability to multitask and prioritize

    Other Essential Requirements
    • Ability to lift and carry children up to 40 lbs.

    • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation
    • Clean driving record to drive company vehicles

    • Provide developmentally appropriate activities
    • Make summary notes on children's interactions when applicable
    • Serve USDA meals following guidelines and record keeping
    • Participate in staffing around family & children’s issues as appropriate
    • Work as team to provide best possible care for children and families
    • Scheduled bus riding and driving (no CDL required) in various weather conditions
    • Support other nursery activities as appropriate- at times outside of regular hours

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Position: Bilingual Outreach Specialist

    Hours/weekly: 40 hours weekly/with full benefits

    Supervised by: Program Director

    Location: Cottage Grove, Creswell, and North Douglas

    Starting salary range: $20-$22/HR

    Overview

    This position provides parent information, resources, and supports to Latinx

    families in Cottage Grove and Creswell area, as well as the rural areas of South Lane and North

    Douglas counties. They will assist families in enrolling in services. This position manages a

    caseload up to 25 families along with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Provides at least

    one monthly home visit for each family, and maintains accurate files on each family/child.

    Major Job Responsibilities

    Participate in outreach events to connect families to early childhood service in the

    community

    Assistant families in the enrollment process to ensure a smooth transition

    Develops positive relationships with community partners.

    Ensure establishment and maintenance of all client files and documentation in an

    appropriate and accountable manner according to established standards

    Provide crisis intervention when needed

    Facilitate monthly parent meetings providing topics, speakers, and/or activities

    Increase community awareness of and further promote a positive image of the Nursery,

    may include attending meetings, events, and fairs outside business hours

    Provide monthly articles (family stories) for the newsletter and social media

    Assist with parent education/Support Group

    Hold weekly Respite classes

    Participate in staff, volunteer, and professional training opportunities, meetings, etc.

    Assist with various office duties as needed

    Hold/Attend scheduled Supervision Meetings, Events, Fundraisers, and additional

    Outreach.

    Provide outreach and engage new families in the program

    Participate including outreach events to connect families to early childhood service in

    the community health fairs, back to school nights…. etc.

    Promote and encourage family growth and development during the Home visit

    Make referrals to necessary community resources

    Provide at least one monthly home visit for each assigned family, focusing on parent-

    child interactions, child development, positive discipline, referrals to other services, and

    any other topic of importance to the family.

    Establish and maintain positive communication with parents, provide information about

    their child’s progress and relevant guidance/discipline techniques, reinforce parent

    education group topics, and model appropriate interactions with others

    Maintain open, positive communication and promote individual/group problem solving

    skills with children, families, co-workers and the community

    Model and encourage direct, professional communication among staff members to

    create a positive staff support network

    Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client’s services as it relates to

    the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations served

    Apply principles of diversity, equity, and racial justice for families

    Follow the guidelines as a State Mandatory Child Abuse Reporter

    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully. An individual must be able to perform each

    Language Requirement Bilingual Spanish/English both written and oral

    Education and Experience

    Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Social Work, or related field including experience with high- risk families. Home visiting experience. Or, any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skill, and abilities. Knowledge regarding domestic violence, child abuse, substance abuse, mental health issues, and special needs children is preferred. Meet the qualifications for a Head Teacher with the Child Care Division.

    Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

    A current clearance from the Central Background Registry, A current Step from the Oregon Registry Online, Current First Aid Certification, CPR Card, and Food Handlers. Must have current driver’s license, car insurance, and access to a vehicle.
